Opera 7.5 Compatible Keyboard setup (v. 1.30)

A keyboard setup that takes you back to the Opera 7.5 era, which still had all the classic shortcuts as build up from the first Opera versions.

This setup was made by editing the standard keyboard shortcuts as shipped by Opera 10.6, so you will not miss out on modern features. Some examples of changes as compared to the modern keyboard shortcuts:

  • New tab: Ctrl+N and Ctrl+Shift+N (modern: Ctrl+T)
  • New browser window: Ctrl+Alt+N (modern: Ctrl+N)
  • Clone tab: Ctrl+Alt+Shift+N (modern: no shortcut)
  • Add to bookmarks: Ctrl+T (modern: Ctrl+D)
  • Toggle display of images: G (modern: I , if single-key is on)
  • Toggle Author mode/User mode: Ctrl+G (modern: Shift+G, if single-key is on)
  • Print preview: P (modern: Ctrl+Shift+P)
  • Reopen page: Ctrl+Alt+Z (modern: Ctrl+Shift+T)
  • Paste and go: Ctr+D (modern: Ctrl+Shift+V)
  • Paste and go in background: Ctr+Shift+D (modern: no shortcut)
  • Zoom in/out 100%: Ctrl+plus/minus (modern: no shortcut)
  • Go to Keyboard Help page: Ctrl+B (modern: no shortcut)
  • View source: Ctrl+F3 (modern: Ctrl+U)
  • Validate source: Ctrl+Alt+V (modern: Ctrl+Alt+Shift+U)
  • Hide Opera: Ctrl+H (modern: Ctrl+Alt+Shift+H)
  • Focus Panel: Ctrl+0/1/2/etc (modern: Ctrl+Shift+0/1/2/etc)
  • Open Manage tabs: Ctrl+Shift+0/1/2/etc (modern: no shortcut)
  • Go to Speed dial: Ctrl+Alt+Shift+1/2/3/etc (modern: Ctrl+1/2/3/etc)
  • Single-key shortcuts are always on
  • Shortcuts for cascading/minimizing/maximizing all tabs
  • Different shortcuts for opening 'manager' tabs
  • etc.

The setup file is fully annotated, you can read all the changes there after saving it to disk separately.

Installation Instructions: 

To install, simply click on the file, click OK on the warning message. Opera will then install and ask you to confirm the installation.  If you are not satisfied with the new setup you can change back to the old one by going to Preferences > Advanced > Shortcuts and selecting the setup of your choice. It is also possible to delete or edit the new setup there.

If you want to look at the source of the file, right click on its link and select "save linked content as", once on your hard drive you can open it as a regular text file.
