Force YouTube HD

A simple means of forcing YouTube to default to HD video

While there are more elegant means of accomplishing the goal this script aims for, including YouTube HD Ultimate hosted here, I wanted something simple which was not likely to require any maintenance.  This one-line script does the trick for showing 720p video by default.

This seams to work for me. I get the best available YouTube quality by default with it.

 

I am using right now opera version 10.63.

 

You don't lose time by reloading the flash player in a good video quality.

I tried using Youtube Hd Lite, which does everything else great, but just doesn't force higher video quality.  This however does.  I great combination.

I don't think that will work with URL's like these: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYNdUM2gRsg&feature=player_embedded#t=14s
