NRC Digitale Editie Fix

Suppresses the default annoying behavior of digital NRC. Instead of opening articles in a popup window only accessible through left click, this script replaces this ludicrousness with regular links so you get all the power that comes with regular links, such as opening them in background, creating linked windows, etcetera.

Installation Instructions:

To install UserJS files you must first create a folder for them on your PC. Where you create this folder and what you call it is entirely up to you. Next, go to file->preferences->advanced->content->Javascript Options and select the User Javascript folder you just created. Then, download the .js file from this site and put it in the folder.

If you are using Opera 10.10 or later you can use the UJS manager Unite application to install and manage your scripts. If you have it installed, simply open the script in Opera and an installation button will appear.

Scripts take effect on a page after reloading it.

Great fix

After submitting a question about this side Frenzie also a user of this site for a long time got into this and fixed it. He delivered great work in a very short time. A five star rating is in place and when Opera is going to work with kudos he earned the first 1000 on behalf of this fix.

Yatta

Cheers

Thanks! It's no problem. I've been somewhat annoyed by this very behavior for years, but not enough to take action. Besides, I've usually been busy. Right now I didn't have anything else begging for my time, and clearly other people were annoyed by it as well. :)

Intelligent alien life does exist, otherwise they would have contacted us.

Nice, much easier now to open

Nice, much easier now to open many articles in many tabs.

Just a heads up, the NRC is

Just a heads up, the NRC is changing the Digitale editie so this script is likely to become deprecated. Their new version is expected in september and has clearly been made by fans of lightbox.

I hate lightboxes

They're like popups, except even worse because popups were at least very manageable in Opera. DO NOT WANT. =(

Nice that they're making the entire digital archive available though. And they really ought to make the text version better and the default. It's the Internet, not some paper-based medium. The light-version is a little better, but still.

What's even worse is that

What's even worse is that they have apparently tested the new site in everything, except Opera.

So yeah, fun times ahead
