Youtube without Flash Auto
This script doesn't work on new layout of Youtube, so if you should probably search for other userscript for youtube or wait for new version. Sorry.
Changes flash player on youtube page with customizable flash player, native player via plugin (ie. mplayer) or direct HTML5 video tag.
Adds also fastest and easy way to download movies directly and change quality of movies.

This is slightly modified version of original script (added controls and made HTML5 player default). On Windows this can lead to problems (lack of appropriate gst codecs), so please report, and I will add proper and simple fallback mechanism.
To install UserJS files you must first create a folder for them on your PC. Where you create this folder and what you call it is entirely up to you. Next, go to file->preferences->advanced->content->Javascript Options and select the User Javascript folder you just created. Then, download the .js file from this site and put it in the folder.
If you are using Opera 10.10 or later you can use the UJS manager Unite application to install and manage your scripts. If you have it installed, simply open the script in Opera and an installation button will appear.
Scripts take effect on a page after reloading it.

Codec(s) needed for Windows use?
If there's some codec or something that's needed for it to work on Windows, what is it? I could get it manually.
Unfortunately, on Windows
Unfortunately, on Windows Opera can only use its built in codes, i.e. the ones for showing .ogg files. Since google chose to use the (very expensive) h.264 codec for youtube Opera cannot show html5 videos there.
I understand. Currently using
I understand. Currently using just-redownloaded Windows Media Player plugin with this script ("generic player" defaulted to that). Works well enough, and I like that it's a cinch to switch back to flash whenever needed.
I think one thing the script could benefit from, even if it's only written in a comment in the script itself or something, is a bit more information on what "HD 37" etc. truly mean.
Descryption of formats.
I have already prepared such version: on mouse over. <a title=''> will tell what it is really about :)
I also adds support for remembering config in localStorage instand in cookies.
I'm working on automagically disocvering embeded yt players on any website and change it identical to this one.
Great, looking forward to
Great, looking forward to seeing the update soon. :)
Problem: YouTube is pushing
Problem: YouTube is pushing out its new beta interface, and it doesn't work right with this script.
In fact, YouTube breaks in Opera 10.5 completely with the new interface...for some reason, the new interface refuses to detect the flash plugin at all, so it just tells you to upgrade. :|
just delete your cookies for
just delete your cookies for yt and it will work. and make sure to have browser.js of 16th of march
Question
I set it to generic player and the Windows Media Plugin shows up as the video player, but I am unable to play the video. Is there another setting to change?
Or if anyone knows how to get the VLC plugin to work (does not even show for me) that would be great as well.
Windows Media Player plugin
Windows Media Player plugin suddenly stopped working. It'll load normally, but never load the video.
It seems the presence of the
It seems the presence of the "VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE" cookie prevents the Windows Media Player plugin from working properly. But if, with that cookie gone, I tell Opera to "never accept cookies" on youtube.com, the script goes back to its default settings (non-functional HTML5 player). So "never accept" doesn't mean what I was hoping it'd mean in Opera, which is "you can access/use the cookies that are there now, but no more will be saved", but instead acts as if no cookies are set for the site at all, even if you leave them there.
can't save my settings
I default at these settings.
When i can't save new settings. after i reload the page it default the settings again!
10.51
don't work on opera 10.51
yeah i can confirm that!
yeah i can confirm that!

It was working in 10.51. This is a problem with Youtube which changed layout and cookies. Actually this script is useless :(
